Skill Development Centres

The Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centers have been formed with the objective of accelerating high end skilling in sectors such as Health, Construction, BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance), Automobiles & Auto components and Logistics.

The Government of Tamil Nadu have accorded administrative sanction to establish Apex Skill Development centres with the assistance of Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) as part of Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Programme (TNIPP) Phase-2. The Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centres (TNASDC) were formed vide Government Order (Ms.) No.80, Labour & Employment (S3) Department Dated: 06.07.2018 and G.O. (Ms.) No.83, Labour & Employment (S3) Department Dated: 17.06.2019. The Government has accorded sanction for establishing ASDC at a total project cost of Rs.100.00 Crore (Rs.50 Crore from JICA and Rs.50 Crore from State Government).

Scope

The scope of ASDCs is to

Provide advanced High-End Industry relevant Skill Training.
Coordinate with Industries for upgradation of Syllabus/ Curriculum.
Development of Sector specific courses in adherence to guidelines laid.
Providing training to trainer (ToT) of other institutions to ensure that adequately trained manpower is available in the sector.
Coordinate with Government/ quasi-Government agencies to effectively utilise existing infrastructure and manpower to enhance training capacity.
To facilitate industry linkages for apprenticeship and other on the job training initiatives of the industry.
Collaboration with foreign academic and training agencies to develop training modules.
To organize specialized corporate training programs to cater to in-house training needs of the industries.
